Looks like I lost the ability to search for some reason.. Help!

try searching on "samsher" and "shamsher" or sometimes i've seen "s[h]amser" not sMasher with google (that always works)... i believe the more recent thread on "show us your gangas" has some samsher in there.

When I bought this it was called a "Sgt Karka Special" but I believe it's the same as a samsher

Yeah the elimination of the search function is really awful.

When somebody asks about a model I reviewed in the past I could always search it out cause I remembered the title and kick it up to the top. But now there's no way of doing it short of searching years worth of pages:thumbdn:

Actually, there's a third method which works quite well. You can become a paying member of BladeForums at a relatively nominal cost, and help support the expense of maintaining a resource which we all enjoy (and without which, there would be no such thing as DOTDs).

the current folly is very wide, very thin, and has wide fullers

the samsher is a very stout blade, very like the GRS imho, but pointer, often chiruwa (though not always), and a phenomenal chopper.

that's also true. used to be a paying member. am not currently for certain and various reasons.

Westfork, thanks for doing all the research and posting the pics! :thumbup:

In this series you show here, I have the last one you posted a picture of, at 18" and 29 oz. It chops like a fiend.

I also have a Bura at almost the same specs, so at the time of this Sgt. Khadka series was actually angling for a slightly lighter Sgt. Khadka, as shown in all the earlier pictures, but kept missing them in deal after deal. The Bura is 18.5" and also 29 oz. It is super sharp, and is actually the one that Yangdu cut herself badly on, and Uncle Bill posted for sale, so I will always treasure it. It has the habaki bolster. After Sgt. Khadka made the first couple (described below) Bura made several with habaki bolsters, and then a couple without. Those by him with std. bolsters are pretty scarce.

My biggest is the first one HI offered for sale, by Sgt. Khadka, and it is 20" and 40 oz. Uncle Bill offered it for sale on a weekend I think. Great work. A fierce combination of weapon and chopper. Almost immediately (the next day I believe) a beautiful matching 17" one at about 25 oz. was offered on the DOTD, but I missed it. I want so say that DrDean got it, but I could be wrong.
