Smatchet-alikes?

Smatchet(s) seem to be awfully hard to get nowadays, and their prices are often very high. So I've thought, is there any currently made production blades that would be quite alike with the smatchet?

You can look for a Bark River Clax. They aren't the easiest to find, but should be easier than an original Smatchet. The Clax is a friggin beast!

Thanks for the tip!

I guess custom wouldn't be out of question, but the prices on those naturally go very high.. I have to look into it.

Bark River Forester has a similar blade only single-edged, and a leather-washer handle.

I believe Dan Brock of Plowshare forge makes an affordable smatchet... and fairly true to the original.

Al Mar made a wicked one. Unfortunately, no more.

I would like to see a serious, competant version come out again from someone and it be affordable.

p.s. - I'll check out the Dan Brock. Thanks, C.S.

I'll probably be having a smatchet-like design done up next summer once I have the funds. :)

this spanish made boar hunting dagger would make a nice arkansas toothpick
in fact a lot of these daggers were designed to dispatch downed game.
