Has anyone actually used a smatchet? I was thinking of getting one for camp chores mostly to be used for limbing firewood and beheading catfish. is it more practical than it looks?

I have one and used to use it. I moved and dont have much use for it now. For its size, you'd think it would cut like a saw. It splits small pieces of wood fairly well, like 2x4s and such. It even whittled a point on a wooden stake surprisingly well. See if you can find some of the articles on them from when they were issued in WWII. The articles I've read say they weren't too popular with the troops. Mine is quite heavy, making it slow and not very good for chopping springy briars and rose bushes and such. I hope to write a fairly detailed review between mine and another large knife a friend of mine has.
