I just bought a copy of "All in fighting" by W. E. Fairbairn. It has a section on a knife called a "Smatchet". It looks similar to a leaf shaped Filipino knife i saw once.

Has anyone heard of this knife before & Craig, do you think Lalit could make one?

Thanks
PC.

I think Jim March knows a good bit about these. "The devil's pancake flipper" he calls them. Why not e-mail him for more info?

The Smatchet would be a challenge-getting both blade bevels the same is tough.

PC: I'm confident that they can make just about anything. Can you post some pictures of it? Having it posted here would be a great help when trip time comes around.

Craig,
I don't have access to a scanner. But if you post me your fax number i would be happy to send you a copy.
Thanks,
PC.

Craig,

Below is a picture of a Boker "Mini-Smatchet". The knife and the picture don't begin to do justice to the real, full sized Smatchet, but I put it here so you can get an idea whet the design looks like.
