I love my smatchets, who is got them? , who has a Al mar one and what is their opinion about them in comparison with Edmf's and boker . If you have any from any maker post a pic please, I saw this one from M.Oxley that is up from blade, I wish I had funds...All smatches are welcome:thumbup:

FIRST YOU GOT A AWESOME COLLECTION AND LOVE IT!! I owned a similar collection of what u have, vintage SOGS, and some customrs, but i had to sell everything to have my current collection!
I love the smatchets and have OWNED ALL THE AL MAR AND BOKERS-- Every color and every variation!! Here is the deal with BOKERS AND ALMARS..

#1)) You cant COMPARE!! The AL MAR is a step above! its that simple.. In the feel, the way it looks(no glue on the corners) etc.. HOWEVER the BOKER can be found from 250-400 which is a great deal in my opinion
and they are much easier to collect THE SATIN, BLACK, and the GREY coating! To me the GREY COATED BOKER SMATCHET WAS THE BEST!

The AL MARS are all awesome. I currently ONLY have the normal PREPRODUCTION SMATCHET BY AL MAR
but they also made a AppleGate and a BROWN MICARTA variations-- Not sure if these were license by actually USA AL MAR, but they were great quality too! I just handle 2 last week! Very similar to a normal AL MAR smatchet but have cool grpahics and a tad different blade grind design

I had an EDMF and sold it. It was a very good working blade. I stripped the coating and parkerized it, but ended up selling it later. I sometimes wish I had it back. Are they even still making them?

Just want to say the vintage AL MAR run around 600-1200$ - YES i have seen the micarta ones sell at 1200.. The BOKERS are much easier to find, but once you put one of those AL MAR SMATCHET in your hand its like WOW! Are they over built? Of coarse but so is a FORD Raptor..:o) They are hard as hell to find at a great deal-300-500$.. The BOKER are much easier to find!!

I have seen some CUSTOM made smatchets that are JUSTFLAWLESS and i am sure fit the hand like no other, but again depending on the custom maker is tough on resell value.. If i was rich I would buy two knifes from EACH CUSTOM MAKER ON HERE!! I just love custom knives ! I LOVE knowing that someone made this knife by hand! But its gonna cost ya!
 
I also like the smatchet. There is limited usefullness with one but who cares. I own an early numbered production of the Boker and like the size and grip. The early Al Mar was lighter and shorter than my Boker. I have not seen the newer Al Mar's but I bet it is nice.
 
Does anyone know if EDMF is still doing business? I didn't get a response several months ago & the site looked like it hadn't been updated in a while.

He still does but very slowly, he lost his computer and has gotten back to some people from 2007 so if you are in the list after that you probably won't be seeing your order or maybe yes...
 
Rio, in that first picture, 4th from the left. How do you like that one? I've always wanted one.

Only smatchet I have is EDMF. What a cool blade. Makes you feel like a gladiator!

That is a guarded cutleSs Bowie, is a bad ass, I love it, great for training and chopping, I got it from Dabird(Jerry rest in peace ) and is got his name on it, how cool is that.
