My 9 was getting lonely so went ahead and got him a buddy. Going to EDC this one for a while and see how it works out. Any Ideas for pocket sheaths? If I can figure out how to attach the stock sheath to my wallet with out ruining it I will try that first. I definitely want to add some jimping for the thumb and on the ring like I saw in a previous post recently, but I need to practice on a junk blade first. Overall, it is the perfect size, pretty much the exact same size as my spyderco native.
I was hoping to get a 2 next, but this little guy will do nicely for now.

Very nice designs Skystorm, If I decode to use it as pocket carry I will definitely invest in one of your sheaths.

A couple observations after EDC'ing the 14 for a couple months...

I love this knife! :) I wasn't sure I wanted to EDC a fixed blade and got this as a tester.. After having it in my pocket for a little while now I am hooked. At first I was a little apprehensive because it isn't a one hand deploy knife like my folder, but after giving it a chance I am glad I stuck it out.
It is big enough to take care of business, but still small and light enough to carry in my pocket with my phone. I really like the added ability to tackle big jobs. I got out of my truck one day last week and brushed up against a thorn bush in my work's parking lot. I grabbed the knife and chopped the crap out of the bush in short order.. it was most therapeutic!
I used a small triangle file to put some jimping on the top of the blade, the bottom part where it curves up to the guard, and on the bottom of the circle "pommel" (not that well versed on the proper names of knife parts...) It made a huge difference in the usability of the blade. I tried to do a convex on the edge, but I need to get serious and read some more before trying again. I sharpened up the edge and lightly sanded the whole knife to break the "shiny" factor.
As much as I love the stock sheath, I want to get a leather pocket sheath made. I want to have a pocket clip on it though that will hold the sheath in my pocket and raise the top of the sheath a 1/4 inch or so out of the pocket. I have already cut 2 pairs of shorts trying to draw it out while leaving the sheath in my pocket... The ability to draw the blade without having to take the sheath out of my pocket would really do it for me.
I am hoping to get the izula micarta for Christmas to try out. I like the way it looks with them installed. Before I bought the knife I thought that I would want it wrapped, but after wrapping it a few times I just didn't like it as much as the skeleton frame handle.. I like the way the izula handle looks with the circular part of the handle still open.
Someday soon I will get an 11 to compare against the 14, but for now I couldn't think of an improvement for a small EDC fixed blade.
All in all, I am pleasantly surprised at how great this blade is for EDC.

I know what ya mean! Ive been carrying one for about a month now and i love it. I find the stock sheath is a little bit wider than i like so i am gonna make me a little taco style kydex sheath for edc carry and i think i will love it even more then. It would be nice to be able to deploy it without having to use two hands but i love kydex too much to switch to leather. I would like to seeva pic of it since youve done the filebwork when you get time. Mite give me some inspiration to do a little moding to mine as well.

I gotta agree. The BK-14 is my most used knife period. I've been carrying it almost everyday for a few months and absolutely love it. I was just outside messing around and decided to make some more char cloth and fatwood feather sticks - stocking stuffers.
The 14 did a great job on the fatwood and if course the old t-shirt was no problem. I'll go back out and get some pics in a minute.

Ok. I'm back with pics.

I still need to work on my feather sticks but not bad, I think.

I did a quickie free hand job with a cheap triangle file, all my "real" tools are still in storage and I only had access to a vise at work...I would definitely use a jig to do it right and pretty. I sanded the area after filing it to cut the edges, it was a little too sharp. When I sanded the area it removed some of the paint in between the file marks and made it look like a hot mess. It pretty much looks like crap, but it works very well for me. My hand is wide so the handle only holds 3 fingers. the jimping on the bottom round part really helps to add some grip, I got the idea for filing it there from someone else's thread here in the Becker forum.
