this is a question that me, and probably a lot of other blade forums members have asked. Advocates of both: get ready and post!

My .02 the SNG is the way to go for a EDC.
Full size grip in a easily concealable package.
The SMF is quite a handful. Its a beast of a folder. If your like most and carry a cell phone, wallet, light, keys (thats not counting my off duty pistol)... then size and weight become an issue. In my Lochsa post in the gen disscusssion section i have a pic that shows my DDC SNG and MSC SMF and you can see the size difference is significant.

PS..... after looking at the pic... ya know what, you cant really appreciate the size difference. Nonetheless, if I were to use an anology... lets make it a gun analogy... it would be like comparing a Sig 229 to a Sig 239, they look very similar but once you carry and handle both you will feel the difference. You must handle both these folders...knives are like women... everyman has his own taste...

Both are great knives. That said I edc my PT more than my SNG or SMF. I generally carry my PT and SMF but the PT gets the lion's share of use.

Between the 2 if you only intend to own one get the SMF unless it is too large for leagal carry in your area if so get the SNG.

i've had several of both and prefer the SnG, the SmF doesnt look much bigger but it doesnt carry as well in the pocket as the SnG, dont get me wrong its till ok and not like an AR or GB which are imho too big for the pocket, but the SnG really carries well in the pocket, and is about as big as the SmF.

if i could only have one i would get an SnG, FWIW the last SmF i had i swapped for a SnG.

I have and carry both. The size of the SnG lends it to be more convenient to pocket carry. Once you get used to the size of the SMF it's not to bad. That being said I carry my DGG SnG more often than my SMF.

The millie and the SMF has the same size blade, but the handle on the millie is longer. The size for the SMF is 9 inches, versus the 10.8 on the Millie

the military is narrower and thinner, and has more cutting edge, iirc.

my smf is at strider for a repair right now, so i can't verify.

as mentioned, it is really difficult to grasp the size differences between the sng and smf unless you handle both. the sng is pretty big in its own right. i carry mine, but the width limits carry time.
