Smirnoff's commercial

I saw a commercial last night for Smirnoff's Ice coolers. It shows a guy is going to a party and he pulls out what appears to be a Sebenza-like knife and punctures two tires to a classic Mustang. He then sets the alarm on his Mustange and goes to the party. An announcer then says the line about drinking responsibly and not drinking and drinving etc. Did anybody else catch the commercial? I'm curious as to what the knife actually was. Probably some cheap POS knock-off.

I saw the commercial too. The message was to do "whatever it takes" to not drink-and-drive.

Has anyone actually punctured a tire like that? I've seen over-inflated tires explode with enough force to kill people. Seems like "bad things" could happen when you do it on purpose.

People slash tires all the time. Most passenger car radials run at about 35 PSI max--that's not enough to make the tire explode when it's sitting still and a fairly large opening is suddenly created.

I couldn't identify the knife. Sorry.

And if you're smart, you just tear out the valve stem with a pair of vise-grips. A lot less noise than slicing the sidewall.

Has anyone tried Smirnoff's ICE yet? I can not find it anywhere....seems to be just another lemon flavored beverage like Mikes hard lemonade.

anyone?

I have it isn't bad, but doesn't come close to being half as good as Mike's .

welllll - if ya just pull out the valve all ya gotta do is replace the plug and your good to go - cut the sidewall and scratch that tire - depends on if your really mad, or just playing - and no i dont go out and slash tires - though i knowe a few people whos tires i would like to slash (ie-my stockbroker)

the smirnoff is ok if ya are into coolers - give me my guiness stout please

my buddies used to drink it, they called it candy beer, it tastes just like the name. I think its disgusting, clearly marketed to kids. I thought the guy in the commercial used a folding corkscrew.

Smirnoff Ice tastes suspiciously like Vodka and 7up.

As for the slashing the tires - why? Lots of good ways to disable a car without damaging it like that. (E.G. cut a belt, take your favorite easily detachable part and throw it, etc)

Or, even better, don't drink unless you have a ride arranged.

I'm going to have a good chuckle when someone tries slashing their own tires, gets hurt, and ends up in a lawsuit with Smirnoff.

The guy hasn't even had a drink yet and he has already made an A$$ of himself. I guess in the next scene our hero runs into a hot young blond who winks at him and suggests "hey, how about we go back to your place and have our own party" Then we can do a close-up on the guy's face as he pathetically sits there downing a bottle of Smirnoff Ice... :)

So, what did you think about the knife. They show it soo quick but it looked like a Sebby. Then again, I might have Sebenza of the brain.

My wife likes the Smirnoff. I think they are better than most of those type beverages. But I prefer a beer anyway...

Haven't seen the advert but will look for it.

Doh! I meant side-cutters, not visegrips. You tear off the valve with side-cutters.

I agree with Danelle. It looks like a silver-handled SAK (or other multi-bladed slip joint).

Which brings me to my initial impression when I saw the commercial: doesn't it seem rather dangerous to stab a slip-joint folder into a tire sidewall? I mean, if you value your digits?

That knife appears to have a corkscrew. Never seen an SAK with flat silver scales like that, so probably it's just a knockoff multiblade.

That pic is kinda funny though; anyone ever carry their knife sticking halfway out of their coin pocket?
