I have read more good news about condor but I'm still not sure which to buy.
Any recommendations..?

I'm finding different specs for the S&W.
.32" thick
2 lbs 11 oz, that's 43oz!

I'm also finding the Condor to be made from 420HC, not 1075.
The E&E by S&W is for breaching, while the Condor is a fighting hawk. There is a difference in length by a few inches, and a difference in weight by 19oz. To put that into perspective, the SOG Fasthawk weights 19oz. I own the GG&G Battlehawk, it weights 44oz, and it's sold as a breaching and fighting hawk, but it's slow compared to a 24oz hawk. The edge of a thick breacher type hawk will be thick, and not chop wood well at all. They are made to break shit, cut through metal, cinderblock, etc..
The Winkler RnD Sayoc hawk is 13" long and is 24oz in weight, it's made for fighting, and can be worn on a vest, or belt. I'm guessing that the Condor would be better for fighting than the Smith and Wesson, faster in hand for sure.
I'm not saying which hawk is better, I don't own them, nor ever held them, they are apples and oranges. Neither have a rapid deployment sheath, neither can be gripped near the head(matters to some), but both are affordable spike hawks.

Personally I don't like the Condor (WHA???) because of the taper of the handle without any flare at the butt. Unless you hook your thumb over the top of the scale it wants to slip out of your hand. It's an otherwise nice piece, though. The S&W looks like an ugly boat anchor to me. Though it has a hammer poll rather than a spike, I like my Estwing Rigger's Axe better than either.

Yeap I agree.
For the weight, function and cost of some of the full tang tactical hawks/axes I think I'd rather have my cheap ole Eastwing leather Carpenters Hatchet or Riggers Axe.They might not be as interesting or have the cool factor of the tactical axes, but I'd venture to say they are almost indestructible, very functional tool and relatively affordable by comparison.
I also have a Cold Steel Riflemans hawk that I setup for utility and the thing is an absolute beast of a Tomahawk/hatchet...especially for the low cost.

I'm in this camp, too. I'll take function over cool and go my own way.

I have the Condor. A little work on the handle I love it. The Throwing Axe is the same one without handle scales. I have that one also. Dubble wrapped the handle part with 550 cord. dubble wrap the center of handle for better grip for something else. And put a single wrap below the head for holding when doing close up work. It's a Bad Ass Combat AXE. Bad Ass. 1o75 Bad Ass Combat / throwing Axe. See my pics in the axe, tomahawk, hatchet picture thread. I split some kindeln and stuuf like that. You can make the Condor razor sharp.

Smith and Wesson would be my pick. You could mod the SW as much as your heart desires to make it more of a fighting hawk as well.

It's next on my list of purchases.

I just ordered the S&W for $58 shipped. I wanted one that will stand up to most anything. It might be on the heavy side, but a protein shake and few more arm curls will take care of that...LOL. It seems to be the most solid design under $100. The Cold Steel, M48, and SOG's are all less expensive but made of alloy steel and have breakable plastic handles. I'm not looking for thrower, but more of a tool.
