picked this up today, its a 1944 smith corona with a c stock. it also came with a remington 1903a3 parts kit, arsonal wraped remington 43 barrel, match single stage trigger, bent bolt, front and rear sights, stripper clips, ect....

all ill need to make another is a reciever, barrel bands, and stock. should i keep the parts kit and use it for mine when its barrel wears out (its going to be a while) im not sure of the specs but its got crisp rifleing and the bullet test passes with flying colors.

im not completely happy with it, its only shooting 3-4 inch groups at 200 yards. my next step is a lyman quarter-minute micrometer rear sight and a globe target front sight. hopefully a 1/4 minute rear sight will bring my groups closer togeather.

Please don't drill and tap that rifle for the Lyman. There are more than enough "sporterized" :barf: 03's on the market. Look for one of these if that's what you want. I stick to a rule of thumb when it comes to old firearms......If you can't undo it, DON'T do it. These rifles won't ever be made again, why mess it up?

because it was already drilled and taped for a lyman 20 years ago. that guns more spitshine than any thing else. some wise guy buffed the barrel and reciever and reblued it when they put the lyman sight on it. the guns glass bedded and ive got a spair match trigger for it. at one time it was used for long distance shooting matches. look close, the guns not as origional as it looks.

KABAR - gotcha. I had a real nice Remington 03A3 that was all correct. Sold it to fund another Garand some time ago. I already gave you some tips on accurizing the Garand in one of your earlier posts I think.
