Anyone have any feedback on Smith sharpening products? I saw them at Blade and they seem to have a good many products for good prices and have systems that compare to DMT and Lansky. They even had what looked like a good automated bench grinder type of sharpner.

Looking for a little imput as I was looking to add a sharpening line to a retail store.

I thought they looked like a good choice...any input to what you guys would like to see available?

I have found Smith's natural stones to be pretty good for the money, I don't really care for their jig systems though. The Tri-Hone setup with the three bench stones in one device is awesome, I have one and it is very handy, also the little diamond sticks are excellent for travel or field use. I use a small pocket Arkansas stone the most for home sharpening.

I say they are a very good choice for retail stores as they have a lot of variety with good prices and products.

They have a crock stick/diamond pad/carbide pull-through deal that is very similar to the sharpmaker with the addition of a small diamond bench stone, I had one and it worked well, it only had the 40 degree slot if I remember correctly unlike the SM.

You should check out a Lowes hardware store, mine has a very good selection of Smith's products, you could look more closely at them and form your own opinion.

I have been using Smith stones longer then any other, and I have always been happy with them. Our home town Lowe's has a good selection including some of there diamond stones.

Any other input?

Anything in accessories / sharpeners, that you would like to see in a stocking retail store?

Really hard to go wrong with Spyderco sharpening products, from the Sharpmaker (with the diamond and ultra fine stones) and the bench stones are also excellent. DMT also makes excellent diamond stones. Also E-Z lap diamond stones are also OK just some other products to look into.

I have both the Smiths and Lansky diamond jig systems. For me the Smiths works better and is a much better value. However the Smiths diamond rod that resembles a sharpening steel in size and shape was a disappointment. Overall I like a majority of the Smiths products for value and quality.
