I’m interested in the Smith & Sons Delta 3V and have not been able to find much info on it. I’ve found reviews on their slip joints and smaller fixed blades but not this model.

Does anyone have experience with it? How’s it compare to a Ursus 45 in 3V?

Ive owned many Smith and sons knives. My favorite of theirs was the axiom, brave, and comanche. They make a really good knife and even collaborated with white river on a couple designs. While I didnt buy the delta model i have owned the ursus which is an excellent knife. The Ursus is a smaller knife and more daily carry friendly while the delta looks more like a rural back country blade. everything they made was a home run, I say go for it

I am not much help on their fixed blades, but I received a custom Marshlands Trapper for Christmas, and if their other knives are made to the same level of quality, detail, and fit/finish as this knife, I think you're going to be entirely well pleased with anything from them.

Tracking shows I should have one Saturday, I’ll update initial impressions after that. Unfortunately I won’t get to really use it anytime soon.

Got the Delta in yesterday, here are my initial impressions and a side by side with the Ursus 45. Unfortunately I’m not sure when I’ll get to actually put it through some real work.

The Delta felt smaller than I expected, I’m not sure why I had a bigger knife in maybe head but I did. I really like the size and feel.

Compared with the Ursus the blade shape is the first most obvious difference. I prefer the Delta aesthetically and it would be better in my main use case of hunting but the Ursus is probably more versatile with a better tip.

The Ursus scales are thicker and more hand filling, the Delta is more contoured and thinner. For me it felt like the Delta locked into my hand better but I could feel a possible hotspot on the ridge between index and middle finger.

The spine is rounded on the Delta and a sharp 90 on the Ursus.

If I’m out in the woods pretending to be a bushcrafter I’d probably grab the Ursus, if I wanted a big hunting blade it’d be the Delta. For just looking at them and making me smile it’s definitely the Delta.
