Very solid folding knife which I find to be a great deal for only $12-$15. Easy way to get into the feel of a Strider AR for a ridiculously lower price.

Model number for this Smith & Wesson is CKG107 incase anyone would like to purchase one.

Enjoy:

I appreciate a good value as much as the next blade-addict, but I learned early (AND OFTEN!) that there is a minimum we should spend, unless we like stitches! I had SEVERAL knives purchased by me, by friends and family FOR me, and by my wife and "X" for me, fail horribly at the expense of my skin. Use caution when deploying these puppies, and I hope you get years out of 'em safely! R/SLD in CT

Very cool, I really like the modifications you have made.
Can you drill out the liners to make it even lighter? I can't tell if S&W already did that.

I think I'd stick to S&W fixed blades. I had a folder of theirs where the liner lock got stuck and the knife would not close. That's better than it closing suddenly on your finger but it still fails to inspire confidence.

For the money the fixed blades are a deal.

I completely agree, I have also been dissapointed with the quality on many of the Smith & Wesson folding knives. This model on the other hand is the only exception I have found from there line up. The knife is solid and has no blade play with a good liner lock.

Thank you for making that note, the knife does not come with holes drilled in the liners so if you wish to make it lighter that is another option as well. I may consider giving that a try in the near future.

i just gotta ask, what have you guys been cutting while the lock failed on you?

I'd love to see you do a cut test like this guy did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2BVmX4vImY and see how the blade compares.

P.S. where did you get your knife from? I cant find anywhere on line which sells the full straight/plain edge instead of the combo version and even then, there was only 1 place on ebay which was selling these.

Thanks for the review. But I believe this would be the Poor Mans Strider GB since its a tanto ;)

Mogmz is right, it is supposed to be a Poor Mans Strider GB. I was tired when making my posts and made lots of mistakes. I also made another post and put 301 301 twice. I am glad you enjoyed the review and I will do a test review shortly.

can you tell me where you got this knife from? I swear, nobody seems to have it in stock which is some what odd I think for a S&W knife.

I got the knife about a year ago on ebay for about $12 with shipping. Your right I dont see anymore without serrations. I think I saw some a couple months back but they are like $17 dollars without serrations. The ones I purchased were all first production runs. Ill try and find a link if I find a good priced non serrated version online.

Here is a short turtore test I did with the knife:

Held up well on cement drops and the liner lock never failed. I have had several other folding knives have the linerlock fail on the knife throw test. Knife felt very comfortable wearing large gloves and was easy to open and close. Very impressed with this folding knife for around $15. Knife felt sharp when slicing but felt extermely dull when chopping or pressure cutting.

Just picked one of these up today, found it at a local knife shop for twenty bucks. a little more pricey than what you got it for but i'm still happy with
it. its incredibly solid and the most well made s&w knife i've ever seen. the mods you did to yours are absolutely amazing.
