Smith & Wesson First 500

I have aquired (In a strange sort of way) six knives that had been in a display case of crapy quality. The case said as is engraved on each knife "Smith & Wesson First 500". Anyone here have a clue about this "special" set of fixed blade Smith & Wesson knives?
