I just got this a few days ago and thought that I would post my thoughts on this knife.
When I first held it, the knife that it reminded me off was the Darrel Ralph Vanguard that I had for awhile. But one difference that I have noticed between the various production pieces that are collaborations between Darrel and the production companies is that the overall thickness of the production model is much less.
This knife held well in the standard grips, with my only complaint about that being that it felt like the clip interferred with the grip. So I tried switching hands, and when I gripped it with my left hand it felt a lot better. It would appear that if I wanted to take the clip off that it would be a fair bit of work.
The knife opens up nice and smooth, and locks up firmly. Only problem that I had there is that the thumbstud is done in such a way that it can grab onto the inside of my pants when I am drawing it out. But other wise it has good opeing action, good lock-up and closes easily.
The blade is a good size. I had forgotten to really read the description from the buyer about this knife, so I have the part serrated one. I dont know that it will be too big of a problem with the blade being 3.75 inches long though. The blade is markes as being 440, but not which variety of 440( A, B or C).
Overall this is a very well done knife, that manages to remain true to the feel of a Darrel Ralph blade. It will present a very good deal for those that have been looking for a larger EDC, and from what I hear they are very well priced too.
* A note on the markings of this knife. It is marked as a Smith & Wesson HRT
I just looked at the pic that Dennis posted, man I need one of those plain edge ones, they have a real nice looking recurve, which the half/half does not.
