Are these watches as crappy as thier knives? I tried one on in the store right next to a Luminox navy seal dive watch and they where almost exactly the same. Both had the same glowing tritium on the hands and everything. They where the same weight too. It almost looks like Luminox made both of them. So Does anyone know anything about these? they where basicly the same price too!! I was just going to get it but it reminded me of S&W knives and they leave a bad taste in my mouth, But are the watches a whole different story? Good like the guns? And do you think Luminox makes them? they where almost exactly the same except the name? I just recently started wearing watches so I don't know alot about them. willing to spend around $200 or under for a nice TOUGH watch. Any advice? Thanks

Hi

The LUMINOX and TRASER (H3) watches were made by MB Microtec AG (Niederwangen, Switzerland).
MB Microtec AG is the manufacturer of the tritium light tubes. The company is manufacturing their own watches also under the TRASER brand.

MB supplies their tritium tubes & the watches also to Luminox in different styles and with the LUMINOX tag on the dial. MB supplies their lights also to some more watch manufacturers in the world. The company is also offering "private label" watches to their customers. If you would like to have your own watch for your unit or company - contact MB and they´ll help you. Usually you´ll need 50+ watches for a private label watch.

The Smith & Wesson watches (and also the UZI watches) are equipped with tritium lights from a company in Canada. The watches are equipped with RONDA quarz movements and are assembled overseas. This lights are not so bright as the Microtec (Traser) lights. They´ll glow 90-95% of the TRASER lights I think.

But in the daily use of the watches there is no REAL difference. You can read the S&W and Uzi watches as perfect as the Traser watches (yes, I own a lot of these different watches since several years).

The point for me is, that the S&W watches are much cheaper, good quality and they´ve also a bright & fine tritium illumination system.

For example:
You´re buying a Smith & Wesson Diver watch, you´ll get a black steel case, 200m water resistant + perfect illumination for around 200,00 € (here in Germany)
If you´re buying a equivalent TRASER (Modell Black Storm, black steel case, 200m water resistant) you´re paying 349,00 € !!

The UZI Protector watch is a real good buy for your bucks (around 99,00 € here in Germany, mostly cheaper if you´re looking a little bit around in the net...). This watch is 200m water resistant and has tritium tubes at 3,6,9,12 and on the hands (hour, minute). On the second-hand there is a luminova illumination.
Perfect watch for a VERY good price and at the moment the cheapest watch with tritium lights on the world market.

At the moment it looks to me as everyone is running for the watches with the blue tritium lights instead of the green ones. I don´t know why, because the blue lights are only 80% of the green light brightness. The green lights are the best to read in the darkness. So the blue ones are only "trendy".

If you´ve any further questions - please ask. I´ll try to help you.

So basicly it (S&W Tritium) watch, the black divers style one is praticly the same watch as the luminox that looks that same? If we where talking knives here would it be like having to knives with G10 handles and 154CM blades, same style and everything, one is just made from a company like emerson or Strider the other is something else, but same materials? I just went ahead and got the S&W today. I tried it on and was compareing it the the luminox F-77 I think it was called. I went into the back of the store and turned off the lights and they both glowed SUPER BRIGHT!!! And glowed about the same. They felt the same on my wrist, same weight, and both feel extremely durable. The only difference was the little name on the face. And one, the S&W was $130, and the luminox was $330 ,That was it. But I'm asking questions because I know nothing about the insides. It's like when someone doesn't know anythhing about knife steel. I want to make sure I didn't waste my money. I have 30 days to take it back. Thanks alot for the response to my thread.
