Smith's Diamond Stone

I was just at Lowe's and on a whim I bought a Smith's brand diamond stone...the kind with the built-in "hook sharpener." Is this stone as crappy as I think it is? I haven't even opened it yet, and I only paid like six bucks for it...Whatcha think?

i've got one, it's good for carrying in the woods, not too heavy, doesn't take up much space, ect.

It will work but if its anything like the diamond oval I have from them its not going to work that well. I would recommend DMT.

It is not your goto stone but there is nothing wrong with it for quick touchups in the field or at work. I keep one in my toolbag when doing drywall to touch up my utility knife to get a more cuts out of the blade.

If it's anything like the inexpensive Gerber's I bought on closeout a couple years back they'll lose their diamonds and aggressiveness a lot faster than a DMT (or Eze-Lap) but will give pretty good service for a while.

Thanks, all. I assumed it was of inferior quality, but like I said, I just bought it on a whim with some hardware.
