I’m wanting to add 2 of these to the collection but having a hard time deciding which ones. Can anyone offer some insight. I want all of them eventually haha.

Not getting much information in your post about intended uses! So if your a collector looking at adding different styled Spyderco knives to your stash, I'd say go Chef and Smock first! Daily user who works the knife hard, Shaman and Spydiechef!

The Smock has polarizing ergonomics, But there's no questioning the enjoyment of the button compression lock. People talk about not liking the coffin shaped handle and cutout on blade for lock clearance. For me the ergos are fine and the knife cuts well with no issues for my tasks.

The Spydiechef is a simple designed titanium framelock that's got great slicing potential, Stellar ergonomics, And an almost rustproof build. It's slim in the pocket , Lightweight, Deep carry clip, And has a great overall blade shape. It can also double in the kitchen and date nights!

Shaman is my favorite knife out of the 3 and one of Sals best IMO. Stout knife , With a foolproof lock, That is at home on a camping trip or in a warehouse!

Have fun choosing ! Get all three..:)

Kinda tricky to say without more info about your intended use and preferences. If I were to have one of those three I’d say chef, but that’s just because I don’t care for the blade shape of the smock and the shaman is a bit larger than I prefer for an edc.

The chef is very slicey, very ergonomic, and very easy to carry. As an added bonus it’s rust proof. I don’t know of any situation where it would perform poorly.

Well, I don't use any of the knives that I "collect" and buy them based on the appeal of their style, appearance and uniqueness to me.

I have purchased/owned all three knives at one time but I sold the Smock because I felt that it was a poor implementation of the original SK23 upon which it was based. Never liked the design compromises Spyderco had to make to make the side compression button work w/in the limited size of the blade/handle, especially the near vertical (rather than radiused) angle of the leading edge of the choil in the blade.

However, I still own the SpydieChef and the Shaman and, between these 2, I'd vote for the SpydieChef because it's more unique than the Shaman (all Ti scales and a LC200N blade) and, like other Spyderco Ti knives, always seems to be in demand but, because of its cost, there seem to be far fewer of these knives available and it is more likely to be discontinued due to the cost of production & limited sales than the Shaman.

The Shaman will probably ALWAYS be in Spyderco's product line because it is a solid seller and, if you want to create a Shaman "collection," comes in many different variations.

On the other hand, there is only ONE type of SpydieChef and, if you don't buy one now, you may forced to pay a premium for one later, as is currently the case w/the Slysz Bowie that seem to be as scarce as "hen's teeth" and going for as much as $600 or more when you can find one for sale.

Thanks! Yeah I have dedicated hard use knives, so I’m more a collector myself. I found a nice custom Smock on Knifeswap, and also picked up a Chef brand new. I’ll add a Shaman eventually in a few months.
