Hate to start another Pack thread but anyone here ever use a smoke jumpers pack. I like the way they ride and these guys where them for days at a time. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks

hummm, I love packs that ride like that. I was beginning to think i was going to have to piece it together myself and sew one up. you may have saved me a ton of work. :) thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like a large waist-pack that has should straps attached, if that's the case you could also look at mountainsmith

This true Mountain Smith does make some great Lumbar packs, but if you are looking for capacity then I think the firefighting ones have them beat. I would definetly look into Mountain Smith though they are great packs, I have the Tour (IIRC) and it is a great short day hike bag.

True, I don't think mountainsmith can compete with the size, looks like their largest is about 850 cu. in. But they do make an accessory to attach straps, pretty cool!

Looks like a modernized version of the old GI-issue "butt pack", which attached to the old style pistol belt, but also had attachments for the suspenders.

Those look like good packs. I was thinking about something like that with a maxped Sabrecat, and then attach a set of shoulder straps. ut these would probably be less money and do the same job.

I went and checked out the packs on their website and I was really impressed! Those guys make some pretty cool stuff, and I'm sure it's bombproof! I might just have to order one in the future for some BOB use.

I looked at both of those and still like the looks of the Nargear small enough to carry all day but yet take everything I need.
