Hi all. Last thing everyone needs is another piece of depressing news, but this one hit really close to home. Last weekend a student at the University of Vermont (where I go to school) went missing. They just found her body in Richmond, the town I grew up in. She was in my major, though I didn't know her. I took this semester off to take a job, but if I hadn't I would have been in a class with her. They have a suspect (who has been arrested on other charges), but nothing has been filed yet.

I just can't help but keep on thinking about what her last moments must have been. I just can't get that to stop putting itself in my head.

Please, smoke and prayers for Michelle Gardner-Quinn, her family and her friends.

Smoke and prayers. A University is one of the most unique settings that a young adult can experience. No place offers more freedom of ideas and of action. However, they can be VERY dangerous as well. A split second lapse in judgement is all a creep needs. Something as simple as putting your drink down or taking a dark shortcut home can yield very terrible results. I hope justice is found for this young lady. To me, there is no two things sadder than the death of child or of a young person, like Michelle, that was so close to reaching her dream.
There are some sick bastards out there, and more of them than most people know. College parties and bars seem to be full of them

Smoke and prayers from just down the road. Its a tragedy. I went to UVM and made that walk up the hill hundreds of times. My wife went to UVM for one year and made that walk several times. I guess you aren't safe anywhere any more.
