The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Petty Officer 3rd Class James M. Swink (right), 20, of Yucca Valley, Calif., died Aug. 27 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Swink was a hospital corpsman assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Forces.

While I didn't know James, my son, Frank, did his FMTB at Camp Lejeune, NC with him. Bunked with him and was his friend while they served together.

This is a pic of My son and a few friends sharing a second of down time during their training at Lejeune. Petty Officer James Swink is seen on the far left. My son is second from the right. Frank is currently working at the medical center at Marine Air Base, Cherry Point, NC.

If you have a second, please send a prayer for the family of James M Swink II.
