JK. Hooray for finals! I'm sure a number of you have been here, done this. But it's really not as bad as I thought it'd be. And it means that next week, I get to go home. That'll be really nice. Get to use my khuks again, maybe try my hand at making a file knife...

Well, enough daydreaming. Back to the textbook.

Chris

I'd like to second that request, every one of my finals can either make me or break me this semester. On a good note, however, I managed to pull a B in the chem class i thought I was going to fail. :)

Good luck, young bucks:D I have been there several times. Finals aren't bad if you've paid attention. Everyone makes a big deal out of them, but really, most profs just treat it as the last test of the semester. I've actually had a final that was attendance based on the day of the test. The final was worth 500 points. 30% of it was based on 20 pretty straight forward multiple choice questions. The rest was if you showed up on time and were actually there for the final. Show up and answer a few easy question, get an A. sleep in or forget, you've got a 500 point OUCHIE;)

Take care! Hey, just a thought for next semester. If any of you college guys need a care package for finals time, lemme know! I'll be happy to send you some of Steely's Favorite Finaltime Snacks. Mainly it's just bagged popcorn, but I have the Mrs send some chocolate chip cookies as well;)

Jake

Hm. Only one in-class exam left, in 40 minutes. I think I need an A to get an A in the class...:(

I'm pretty worried.

You're about as sharp as I've seen them, John. Don't worry about it. Either you know it, or you don't. My money is on you knowing it. At least it'll be the difference between an A and a B and not a D and an F. I've been there before:eek: DON'T SKIP CLASS is the leason i learned there.

Jake

Never skipped class. I know I can do well on this final. Only one final, btw. The rest were big papers or, for German, just an oral exam. Not bad, in all!

Chris

good luck!!

I'm headed out to my EMT-B practical skills final in two hours..then the written exam tomorrow at 1pm.

Well damn:( I feel left out. I wish I had a test to take;) Good luck all. We've got the best and the brightest in the Cantina. I'm sure you'll all do super duper.

Jake

Jake?

You have a terrier and a ferret living in the same house. Every day is an exam for you.

How do the two of them co-exist? They are natural enemies, aren't they?

Good luck to the students. Nice to have a definite end to a segment of life, isn't it?

Be well and safe.

Actually, they get along quite well. Terriers are bred to hunt rodents. A ferret is not a rodent. It is part of the weasle, skunk, badger family. The dog thinks the ferret is fun to chase around, but he doesn't nip or bite. The ferret thinks it's fun to bully the dog, duck under the couch, then as the dog is face down looking for him, he'll run out, circle and bite the poor pup in the bean bag. Now the dog is scared of him. So I have a 2.2lb ferret scaring the 17lb dog so bad that he leaves little pee tracks when he hops up on the couch to get away from him.
The ferret likes the dog's food better than his own. He also likes to look right at the dog, then put his face in his water bowl and blow bubbles. This irks the dog. The dog comes over to get me so that i can take care of the problem. I take the ferret out of the room so the dog can eat and drink. The ferret comes back in mere seconds and promptly bites the dog on his ear...hard. the dog yelps loudly. This freaks the ferret out and he puffs up and screams. He then wedges himself under the stove and chatters at the dog. As soon as the dog has finished eating, the ferret comes out and steals the dogs favorite chew rope and hides it under the dresser. The dog whines. This takes me a minimum of 5 minutes and numerous scratches to my forearm to get it out from WAYYYY in the back. I give the toy to the dog. He now doesn't want it anymore. He has found some ragged stuffed snowman decoration and is throwing it in the air.
It's like having two small boys in the house. They both beg me for a treat. I give the ferret a frosted cheerio and the dog gets a stinky little snausage thing. I have to spread them out 6 feet then give them each their respective treat within a nanosecond of each other. This fails. The dog snaps his up and immediately wants what the ferret has. The ferret drops his cheerio and the dog tries to eat it. the dog has done this 7 or 8 times now. He does not like frosted cheerios so he spits it out. The ferret won't touch it because he has this "thing" about spit. He is now pi$$ed and goes off to poop on the floor of the kitchen. Once he's done he flies down the hall and I hear the shrieks of my wife as the ferret attacks her socked feet. The dog comes running to his mama's rescue and the whole process starts all over.

It's a lot of work, but they make my life so much richer:)

Jake

Good luck. Best part about school, you take a test and its over. Start everything new next semester. Wish we could do that in life!

Jake, you made me LOL! :D Sounds like a lot of fun but I'm glad it is you and your wife and not us.
Ace has really taken up with me since I came home from the hospital, guess he missed me after all. Ace is usually the mom's dog.;)

The last test I had was in 1994 when I took the test for my GED.
What I was worried most about turned out well.
You have to write an essay on a subject given to you when the test papers are given out. You have 45 minutes to complete the essay.
The things we worry about never happen 99% of the time thankfully.
You'll do fine Nam. :D

Do guys who write as well as Nam that young even have to take finals?

Well, if you'd like to convince my profs otherwise, be my guest!! :D Thanks, Munk.

And thanks for the words of encouragement, guys. Steely, that ferret-dog thing sounds hilarious! I've got two dogs, and it's pretty similar for them. Just makes you happy to see them play, doesn't it?

More cramming now. I'll get to sleep in a little tomorrow morning, which is nice. No all-nighter tonight--that was last week. Then, just a 3-hr. intro to Econ. test, edit a big paper for Friday that I finished a little while ago, and I'm done and done! Then I can finally do some Christmas shopping and relax a little. I'm going to try to make mostly file knives as gifts for my friends. Hope that either I'm a quick learner or they're not too picky. :)

Well, back to the schoolwork. Review some tests, assignments, text, and see what happens. Not too worried. This test will probably make the difference between A & B (I hope). Either way, for my first semester, I'm not complaining.

Thanks again for the kind words and the welcome distraction!

Chris

Good luck Chris and John.

I did school for 5 years and work for 20.

I still have nightmares about the school part.

Jake? I cracked up- read:

"Actually, they get along quite well. Terriers are bred to hunt rodents. A ferret is not a rodent. It is part of the weasle, skunk, badger family. The dog thinks the ferret is fun to chase around, but he doesn't nip or bite. The ferret thinks it's fun to bully the dog, duck under the couch, "

and I thought, "Dang, he has a duck too- what a menagerie!"

Staple money to the exam paper before handing it in.

YMMV.

:)

Or, just write in your credit card number and expiration date, and let the guy pick a fair amount.

Good luck!
