Smoke Request from Concord

I've not felt the need for a request like this here before, but we have a family here locally that has really been hit hard. We could sure use some prayers, smoke, or just plain ol' good thoughts right now. A sixteen-year-old boy was murdered here on Sunday; his name is Romero Cervantes. His younger brother, Jorge, is a 2nd grader at my son's school. I didn't know the older brother, but I've seen the younger brother at school when I've worked lunch occasionally, and we've all played soccer & baseball during recesses. This is a really heart-wrenching thing for an eight-year-old kid to have to go through.

The sickening thing about this is, there is a motive, and it's a very sad situation. I won't say here, because the police are not releasing too many details right now.

Thanks to all of you folks; it's nice to have a community like this around at times like this. Thanks for letting me vent.

I grew up in Concord
I actually delivered newspapers as a kid on Marclair Drive
Newhall Park is right behind it
I bet that kid played on Memorial Hill just like I did:(


Did he go to Concord High or Clayton Valley?

Yup - a lot of the local kids play up there; when the soccer leagues are playing in season down on the fields, the whole area is filled with families & kids, dogs, everything.

From what I've heard, he went to Concord H.S. It's really hit his classmates hard, which is understandable.

Other facts are sketchy right now; the family is staying quiet & close to home. The local & state police are trying to catch the killer, who apparently is heading to Mexico. He apparently had feelings for the boys' mother, but those feelings weren't reciprocated. It's believed he went a little (or a lot) delusional & wanted to really hurt her. The really sad part is the killer had become a close friend of the family, so it made it easier to do something like this.

Little Jorge is an outgoing, energetic kid. I truly hope & pray that this doesn't mess him up too much.
