thanks, roland

I guess the butt of the knife can be used as a tamper? Very cool knife.

The Sears knife looks like an Imperial in the All Americans series.
However, Camillus made some of those for Imperial.

Thanks Hal and Dale. i think Imperial(Camillus ??) is as close an ID as possible and suits me just fine !

I would not be surprised if Dean Wallace had a hand in designing the pipe smoker's knife. Dean was the head engineer at Camillus and always was seen with his trusty pipe.

Well said Tom!!
Hope all is well my old friend, please give my best wishes to Angie!

The Sears was part of the "All American" series made at Camillus.

v. interesting. i have a LOT of "Sears" and "Craftsman" knives, some are 40+ years old, and most i can identify as Camillus or Schrade. i bought this one (~ $4.50) as a "Sears" but i've never seen a Camillus or Schrade that i can remember looking like this.
so thanks again Phil, it feels really good to make a positive ID.

Here is a Frontier AA-51.
Tom sent them to me the S-card in the AA-51, some time ago.
Here is a Photo Shopped copy of the S-card. The original was pretty light & hard to read.

We know from the S-card that the AA-51 was made by Camillus in September of 1983.
I would guess the Sears to be made in the mid-1980s as well, but perhaps Tom or Phil know for sure on the date of the Sears.

Dale, that's real history ! it took me awhile to see why people collected old factory records and notes, etc. but now i do appreciate that they are the ultimate authority on the origin of a knife.

Phil,
I hope everything is going well in AR.

There were three knives in the All-American series: #AA31, #AA41 and #AA51. These knives have zinc bolsters and were made for Imperial/Schrade.

I will pass your greetings along to Mother. She turned 82 in January and she is doing fine. (My mother worked for Camillus from 1947-2000.)
