Is there any reason this steel should be harder to get a good edge on ( out of the box ) than a 3 dot ( read x ) , true sharp Barlow ? I have owned a ton of, and actually prefer 1095 steel. But this knife refuses to take an edge that doesn’t flop back and forth. The handle scales didn’t come to my liking so I burnt them to my desire, I’d really like to not get rid of it lol but I’m kind of thinking this one might have been a dud in the heat treat department. Anyone out there have similar issues ?

Ah sometimes they overheat the edge when grinding and it takes a couple sharpenings to get to the hard stuff.

Hopefully it's just that and not a whole soft blade.

Hopefully, I really love my try sharp Barlow and want to love my 1095, I’m hoping to see what the work sharp setup can do this weekend if time allows. If all else fails I’m not above putting this one in the safe for one of the kids to use when they’re old enough and buying another, you know, for comparison sake 😉 lol.

Can you reset/reprofile the edge?
You could be looking at "friday arvo syndrome" .
It should stay sharp longer being stainless..
