Hey Everyone,
My experience with sodbusters so far with is that they are kinda stiff and not smooth opening and closing blades. I have purchased the Case brand, both large and Jr. which I thought would be the benchmark; but not the case ( no pun intended) ;)
Any recommendations on smooth actuating models with springs that are more manageable. Thanks.

Well I'd assume they are stiff so they still close up when they got "sod" in the liners, that way they need not "buster" up your hands when you reach into your pocket to grab a semi-open folder.

The only soddie I've got is an old F. Herder and it's smooth as butter.

:D Thanks for the humour. Needed it! F. Herder? Brand Name?

Strange. I've never had much an issue with a Case sodbuster being stiff. I mean, they're stout little slip joints with decent backsprings, but since it's easy enough to pinch the blade for leverage, they tend to open smooth enough. Have you tried cleaning the pivot out and re-oiling the joint?

The resistance is hard to describe. It's as if the pivot is too tight along with the extreeme strength of the spring. I don't know, just not a "natural" feel to it. I'll try a little cleaner-outer and some oil. Just think it should be a little more effortless opening/closing.
