Anyone have an excess of smooth bone laying around you'd like to sell or trade? Not really particular what critter it came from but some giraffe leg bone would be nice. Can be dyed or natural. Thanks!!!

I have about 10 deer shin bones that have been bleached and dried for about a year, I will be able to get as many as I want in the next two weeks, if you want any of these let me know, last year a guy brought me a box of around 70 deer shins, I only got about 10 or them cleaned up and skinned before my garage started to really stink, so I threw the rest away. I haven't used any of the bone yet.

Kile, thanks for the post!!
I didn't even think to mention in my first post that I'm looking for bone scales for folders, sorry!

what size are those bones? are they pretty round? I was wanting to make a bone handle for a katana type blade i am making, but havent found any bones long enough around 10" long. Would you have a picture of what they look like? My email is terry_dodson@yahoo.com Thanks.

None of them are quite 10" I have a couple around 9" I will see what I can get for you over the next week or two.

Hey Everyone,
Been a long time since I've posted something. I had some pretty serious health problems but am now back on track.
Anyway, I have always found a good source of white bone to be the pet store. Look for the plaine white, sterilized sections of shin
bone sold for dog chews. I get a couple[don't forget your pooch]
and cut and flatten them as I need. They can then be further
colored and aged as you see fit. Total cost is usually under a buck for a pair of scales large enough for a folder or a small
straight knife. E.V.Chavar
