Among folders costing less than $100, what would you consider to be a very smooth and easy folder to open and close? Thanks. :)

+1 on the RAM. If you want a non-flipper, check out the Mcusta Basic series in VG-10.

If the knife is not pinned construction, most folders will open and close smoothly provided the pivot has the correct amount of tension set. What constitutes "smooth", varies from person to person. Some prefer a slightly stronger detent, other like gravity style knives (when you flick your write the blade is engaged).

the minigrip or the ram are the obvious choices. If you want ultra smooth under $100, you should get a CRKT Ripple, but closing it isn't as fast.

Spyderco Para2. It doesn't flick open as smoothly as the Manix 2 because of the strong detent, but I feel closing is easier(and can be done with one finger). When the lock is disengaged the blade will be like it's on a hinge even if the pivot is tightened all the way.

A very few places sell it for under $100, so I'm putting it on the list:thumbup:.

In my opinion, I would consider the following three knives:

Kershaw RAM
Benchmade Mini-Grip
Spyderco Manix 2

I know I am restating what others are saying

Definitely a Benchmade Axis lock. None of the other companies' versions of the axis lock are quite as smooth.

That's a pretty consistent list of top three. I figured the axis lock would definitely be on there. I'll have to check out the others, thanks!:D

Other suggestions welcome!
