Hi all. I know this will be vague, but I really want a new blade that is a super smooth action opening with the thumb hole. I won't be flipping/flicking it open. I LOVE my PPT, but hate that its not super smooth opening unless I flick it open. I want something to just edc, 3" - 3.25" blade... zytel, or whatever handle is fine. I was thinking maybe a Endura, but the blade shape is very reminiscent of the para which I am not a fan of.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

If I wasn't so enamored with the Para myself, I'd totally jump on the Domino. I'm sure I will, eventually, but no funds right now.

Who said a para was smooth...jk jk, well actually i'd call it more fast than anything, opening it slow doesn't seem to suit it, the detent makes it a jerky opening. For a smooth spyderco i recommend the Gayle Bradley

I was in that boat, got a pm2 about 2 weeks ago and absolutely love that knife, then I saw the domino and traded a 560 zt for the domino, I started with spyderco 25 yrs ago and am heading back to all my knives being spyderco. Spyderco just has that "something" that I keep going back to.

I just said para to get it out of the way. Anytime I ask for recommends, its the first one mentioned. :)

And that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. The PPT suffers from the same thing!!! I want smooth spydie hole opening!

Gayle Bradley?? Thanks for the recommendations. Gonna check it out seriously.

Manix 2 I had was like oil on glass. Smooth, very very very smooth. I might have bought a production "cherry" again, I dunno, I generally have great luck when buying knives.

From the factory it was smoother than my polished and tuned Benchmade 942 and I thought that was smooth, well it was, but that manix 2 beat it in smoothness without even trying.

My smoothest openers are ball locks, with the P'kal being the smoothest.

After them, I think it's my beater ZDP Delica. The detents on all my Taichung frame locks (PPT and Techno) and my compression lock models are too overzealous for truly smooth opening, though my new green PM2 is breaking in very nicely.

GB is quite nice without paying for a Southard or Domino.

I second the Gayle Bradley. It is crazy smooth. My Zulu is also crazy smooth, and my Chokwe's are as well. Of course my Southard is amazingly smooth, but it rides on bearings. Smoothness is different than resistance imo. My Caly 3 is smooth, but it requires more force to close like all lock back models. I think smoothness is not always dependent on this model or that, but other factors like particulars workers or maybe the day of the week. I have heard others talk about their Sage's being super smooth and my 1 and 2 aren't bad, but not Gayle Bradley smooth. My green Para is smooth, but seems fast more than anything. My Domino is starting to smooth out, but that detent ball dragging on the blade tang is hindering it. I was thinking of taking it apart and polishing the path on the tang where the ball rides. It has a faster feel, where the Southard has a more hydraulic feel to it. I like opening the Southard, GB, Zulu, and Chokwe's slowly because of the hydraulic feel.

Viele Phoenix is probably the smoothest Spyderco I've ever tried. Lil'Temp and BG42 CF Military very smooth as well.
My PPT became a lot smoother after I loosened up the pivot and gave it a bit of Nano oil.
