Ive seen a few smooth opening knives that had a ball bearing pivot. I forget the brands and models. Do you know any of them. Thanks.

Mine are ZT 0560, Spyderco Southard, and CRKT Ripple. There are many more but not many coming to mind.

Crkt sampa, carajas, swindle, or eros. Boker Kwaiken. Todd Begg Bodega. A bunch of customs.

I have the following bearing pivot knives. Listed in order of smoothness with number 1 being the absolute smoothest flipper Ive EVER experienced. In my experience the IKBS system is the smoothest of all systems. It seems the more bearings the smoother it will be. Unfortunately Captive washers systems like those spyderco, Kershaw and even some new CRKT knives have limit the amount of bearings able to be placed in the washers they use. Mind you though they are still very smooth. I also prefer a liner lock since the most friction you will have with a bearing pivot knife is actually from the detent pressing on the blade tang as it rotates. Liner locks usually have less force applied than a frame lock. But a well done detent can be very slippery even if applying a good amount of force.

1. First production CRKT foresight

2. ZT 0560

3. CRKT First production Swindle

4. CRKT Aluminum Ripple

5. Spyderco Southard

6. A Dai D2 blade flipper (chinese made knife)
