some makers have a smooth and shiney edge, a more professional look than just a ground or cut edge.

whats the best way to do it?

I make kydex sheaths for most of my smaller utility knives. What I do to finish the edges is grind the kydex to shape with a fresh 120 grit belt followed by a blue scotch bright belt. A final buff on a sewn wheel loaded with pink "no scratch" compound gives the kydex a sooth polished look. The buffing compound is designed to polish plastic. It also works very well on wood handles, both natural and especially stabilized. Try it.

I use a 120 grit belt, followed by a hard buff with aggressive compound to remove scratches and round out the sharp edges.. Then a quick pass on a loose buff with green chrome.. Fast, easy, and looks slick.. Really makes a sheath look nice too..

you can use 80 grit if you want too and smooth it up
with a little acetone on a rag..try it it's fast
and very little mess.;)
