First the Disclamers:
1. This works for me. But it may screw your knife up. If you lack these kinds of skills DON"T do this.
2. Less is More.
Ok here is what I did to several Sebenzas that while smooth were not as smooth as some others and felt just a little bit rough on opening or Closeing.
1. Create a clean grit free work place.
2. Take the knife part.
3. Clean handles
4. Take a piece of worn 1500 grit sandpaper and put it on a smooth flat hard surface. Lay your washers flat on the sand paper. Using your finger tip and light pressure gently swirl the washers around on the papaer for no more than 15 to 20 seconds on each side. This will give the washers dull but smooth finishes.
5. Clean the washers
6. Place the washers on your leather strop. I use .25 micron dry polish. Swirl the washers until they get a high shine. Mirror Shine.
7. Clean the washers.
Put the knife back together and marvel at the smoothness of the action.
I have done this to three knives and they all feel great and there is no blade play. The key here is to just smooth and flatten the washer while taking as LITTLE thickness away as possible.
