So I recently picked up a quartermaster qse5tt (Mr.Roper) and after about a week of playing with it and reoiling and polishing the washers its still it's not as smooth as I like. Is it just a matter of time before it breaks in correctly or are there any tips for smoothing it out?

If you already cleaned it , then it really just a matter of opening and closing the knife several hundred times. Personally, I would just use it normally and let it break in over time.

That's what I was thinking... Guess I'll just have to keep playing with it

It's likely the detent that is causing any friction that makes the knife not feel smooth. In just about any frame/liner lock, the pivot can be as smooth as you want but if the detent ball and track it rides on aren't smooth it will never feel smooth when opening / closing.

Just needs to wear in, to accelerate this process I usually put pressure on the lockbar then work the blade back and forth to really grind in the track and polish the ball.

Cool I'll try that too
