Smoothing out skeletonization(sp??)

I recently used a drill press to skeletonize my "Taylor" "golden Dragon" Balisong handles.(brass). That went fine and smooth, for my first time that is, It's alittle harder getting the holes perfectly even than I had thought. Anyways, the holes are drilled and I smoothed the inside of the holes and the inside of the handles w/ a diamond bit that i put in the drill press.
My question is how do i smooth out the outside of the handles? I tried using the diamond bit but it was scratching the handles. So i then tried the grinder which worked ok at first but eventually started grinding the handles. So i moved on to a file. And while the file was working it also scratched up the handles to hell. I am now completely clueless as to what to do. Should i try sandpaper maybe? I would go ahead and try that, but I all ready messed up on the last 3 attempts so I thought I would go ahead and ask first. What do you guys think i should do? any help would be greatly appreciated.

heres a picture in case you don't know what I'm talking about.......

You should be able to remove the burrs bu simply chamfering with a sharp pocket knife.
I can't tell what the handles are made of, but if they are uncoated metal like plain stainless or aluminum, you can sand them.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it. I got everything worked out just fine. I bought some chamfering bits (at least i think they are) and it ended up very smooth. Then I wanted to see how much better I could get it so i started to sand it using a low grit working my way up to a higher grit(or vise versa) and it looks damn near perfect, now i just need some flitz and it should look very good.
There are still a few more things that Im going to do to it. Like replacing the standard pins w/ pivot pins, and a few other things. And I'll make sure I post it when I'm done.

By the way Bill, It's brass.

Thanks again,
Mike
