Smoothing out the action after re-ass'y

I've taken apart my small plain for the first time to clean and grease with fluorinated grease I bought. The problem is the action is now really stiff and jerky. I've taken apart and re-assembled a few times but never as good as it came from the factory. I wish I hadn't even fooled with it. What am I doing wrong?

It is probably the washers. Try to assemble the two sides together first, leaving out the blade and pivot assembly. "lightly" snug the rear and blade stop pin screws. Now assemble the blade with the sleeve/washers, and slide it into the handle while holding it together, as the sleeve is only half way into the handle check again to be sure the washers are where they need to be. Now just slide it in and center the blade and slip in the pivot and your all done.

I have tried to put the blade in first but this seems to be the easiest way for me anyway. Hope this helps.

I think Keith is absolutely right. If it isn't the washers the only other thing I can think of is some foreign objeft(s) got in there. It wouldn't take much since the tolerances are so close.

Greg, I concur, check those rascally washers, it's WAY too easy to get one UNDER the edge of the pivot pin and that can really throw off the whole setup!

Also, you won't need a lot of lubricant, as the tolerances are pretty tight, so maybe you've got too much there?

Worst case, you can send it in for a tuneup, the folks at Chris Reeve Knives are tops in the industry and they want you/us happy!

Good luck, just use patience...
