Guys:
I just finished a minor project with my PSARK and seriously recommend you consider the alteration.
Although I like the feel of the production scales on all my EKI knives, I thought 'smoothing out' my PSARK scales might give the knife a different look. I started with 220 wet/dry sandpaper gradually working up to and finishing the job with 1500 grit to polish of the scale. I ended the the job by polishing the scale with my Dremel tool and jeweller's rouge (not neccessary but my personal preference). In total, the job took about 55 min. start to finish.
The G-10 still has a warm feeling to it but what a 'WAVE' improvement! Now that the scales do not have the textured finish, it literally glides out of your pocket in a flash. I am almost positive that this will prevent pocket wear because there's less friction on the material. I've been working it on my practice bag, and the new finish doesn't detract from the grip at all.
Be advised though, that if you do take on this project, be sure to wear a mask or work under water to prevent the glass dust from spreading. Safety first....Now I'm gonna go 'wave' for a while! This thing is lightning fast, I love it!!!
