Been working on this a bit this morning by hand. Trying to get rid of the hotspots for chopping. I like the machined pattern, but it pretty much every little "fin" of the pattern had a really sharp point on the end.

I was considering taking the entire pattern down, but I'm going to try it like this for now, there are no rough edges whatsoever now but there's still some shape left.

I wish I'd taken some "before" pictures from this angle to show how rough it was. Here's a couple pictures from before, not sure if you can see the points or not...

Whatcha think?

That sar-8 sure is a sweet looking knife, Oh! Yeah! The handles look good too nice job. Customized for your hand perfect.

I do similar on nearly all my Busse's .... keep the shape but sand down the sharper edges ... it makes a huge comfort difference ....

I don't take thin grips totally smooth as you often benefit from depth as well as smoothness .... too thin a grip and the knife can slip for me inside my palm ....

It's a hundred times more comfortable now. I'm definitely happy with how it came out. I think I might polish the exposed edges of the tang between the scales next, just to give them a bit more corrosion resistance. Gonna do the same inside the talon hole/lanyard hole, they had a little surface rust in them, I'm assuming they had some decarb in them still.
