Just received this blade thanks to White Mountain Knives & USPS. This is basically what I do to all my knives. I do not worry about warranty issues, I am a machinist & can easily replace any part. Most manufacturers will void their warranty if you disassemble your knife. Please do the following at your own risk.

Now let the fun begin...

1) Disassembly. 3mm allen wrench, maybe two. I needed just one. Held opposite screw head w/ fingertip & unfastened both screws. Nice weight reduction milling on the frames.

2) Polished pivot screw w/ 1500 & 2000 grit sandpaper. The other is the landyard screw. Both were blue at start. Each one is of a different size head.

3) Polished bearing washers w/ 220, 400, 600, 1500 & 2000 grit sandpaper. (sorry pics here are blurred). They are steel washers to protect the titanium frames from the steel bearings.

4) Added detent ramp on tang. Used old Lansky stones, course, med. & fine. Polished pivot screw hole in tang w/ 1500 & 2000 grit paper. Fine grits used to take off as little material as possible. Polished blade tang where bearings sit. 1500 & 2000 grit paper only.

5) Cleaned bearings & lightly greased bearings, washers (bearing side only), blade tang & pivot screw.
6) Assembly. Cleaned screws & applied blue loctite on screws. Screws are machine threads. Not much thread locking compound from factory.

Knife can be deployed with thumb studs a bit faster than the flipper tab & the tab is no slouch. This process takes the knife to where it was born to be. Awesome!

If this is what the Hinderers are all about, I now know why they are loved.
