Saw it at a flea market for $3. Never heard of Okapi but it looks quite unique. Absolutely dirty tho, desperately needs a cleaning. Maybe someone with more knowledge about Okapi will chime in. Here's some pics

This is a "sure 'nuff" genuine Okapi.
The steel used on these knives is quite good, and will take an acceptable edge.
Okapi's are very durable and strong knives.
If the knife is made in Germany it is an old one, current production knives are made in South Africa.
The example in the pictures is missing its unlocking ring however.
Congratulations if it is an old German made knife.
Cheers.

More real world information on the Okapi.

This knife is also known as a "Tree Star", from the stars inlaid on the handle.

The locking Okapi is the knife of choice for South African Gangsters, and has killed and maimed more people than any other knife in South Africa, if not the world.

If the South African Police find one in your possesion, and you look the part, you will probably go to jail.

For information purposes only.
:)
Cheers.

Wow that's quite interesting. Can't tell where it's made in tho and don't see a use for the unlocking ring as it unlocks just fine.
