I definitely think I did well of the first one, maybe not so much on the second one, but overall I'm happy!
My plan is to fix all of them up, and then sell the two or so that I do not like/want and hopefully make my money back

Looking forward to getting these, and I'll be sure to post pictures as they come!

Congratulations, the floodgates are now open. Buys like those two are the most fun in my opinion because you may uncover a nice makers mark during the cleanup.

fifteen bucks is not bad for a good axe. remember a good axe could last a lifetime

That's a really good price for 4 heads. And they all seem to be in pretty good shape, no mushrooming at the poll, sharp heels and toes, and it doesn't look like the bits have been overly sharpened. Very nice find.

That's what I was looking for too
Nice poles that weren't too beat up and no major edge damage

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I was worried that I might have spent too much on them, but I'm feeling much better now
:)

Take it from a guy who's bought many a rusty nasty axe, you done good. But be careful, this is very habit forming. I have to give myself a monthly 'axe allowance' to buy axes with (unless I see something REALLY interesting that I can't live without) ;)

I'm actually hoping to only keep one and try and flip the rest for some extra cash
I might keep two if I have too, but we'll see
:P

They're here!
The two on the left are boys sized heads, and the two on the right are full size? They fit the 36" handle I got at Home Depot that says 3-5lb head
:)

Time to clean and see what I got!
I know that the bottom left is a Snow & Nealley, and the top right has red paint on it if that helps
:P

If you snagged a Snow and Nealley, then you've got your moneys worth right there!

And the whole full size / boys axe head thing tends to depend on weight. Boys axes have 1 3/4 pound to 2 3/4 pound heads, and 23'' to 28'' handles normally. Full size axes are around 3 pounds plus with 28'' to 36'' handles, from what I've seen. Someone else can tell you about the handle length deal, I don't follow axe handles beyond whether or not I have room to swing it in my local patch of woods.

If that's the case, then I will definitely be selling the Snow & Nealley after cleaning her up

I'm thinking that I will keep the biggest head and hang it on the haft I bought at Home Depot, and also buy a smaller haft for the head stamped 2 1/4 for a possible back packing and camp axe
