Snails and worms

Hi guys and gals! It's been a while since I've even LOOKED at these boards, let alone posted something.
The reason i'm posting is 'coz I have been clearing loads of snails out of my garden for the past couple of nights. It will be an on going problem.
It seems a shame to just dispose of them, so I was wondering if anyone had any way of cooking them.
Also, I'ld like to check on how you eat worms. If you decide to eat them straight away (by just 'squeezing them out), how do you make sure they aren't wriggling around a lot in your mouth? I've eaten woodlice before and that is easy 'coz you just crush them straight away.

Thanks,
Ste

Ahhhhhhh.... my favorite subject.... eating bugs!

Snails can be prepared by steaming, boiling, or any other fashion that you could imagine... no preperation is needed.

Worms... good eaten raw if you like the taste of dirt... otherwise, purge them out in water. You can try cornmeal, etc. but watch out.... they tend to dry out and die if left in too long. You can cook them any way imaginable.

Happy eating.

Sounds yummy.
You could put them in lasagna, where you can't tell what's in there.
As for myself, I think I will wait until I am actually starving that bad to eat worms and snails.
By the way, have you ever eaten Biloot (did I spell that right)? It's a Philipino delicacy of an egg that is fertilized with a dime-size chicken in it. The egg is boiled a little, but not enough for it to harden up. A friend offered it to me, but I could not stomach the sulfury smell.

I tried boiling 3 snails last night. I only boiled them for 10 minutes and they seemed fine. (I'm not feeling ill!) The bit that I ate was the part furthest into the shell, `coz as I progressed towards the bit you can see, it turned a bit gritty. I'm trying to flush this grit out on some others by leaving them in a jar with some lettuce leaves for a day.
I would definetly recommend trying them. They don't taste weird, a bit like chicken in fact.

The thing that I was wondering about most with eating worms raw, was how you make sure they don't wriggle about in your mouth.

As for worms, break in half, grap the head or tail, and strip the dirt out like milking a cow. Dry, grind, and add to other foods.

I have been eating worms (as well as crickets/grasshoppers) off and on for the last six years or so. They do taste better after the dirt is squeezed out, but I usually just grab the little bugger and chomp down. Swallowed whole, they wiggle on the way down. Don't worry about them wiggling around in your mouth, just start chewing. I really should experiment with other ways to eat them as most people freak when you just pick up a worm and eat it on the spot.

KillerMan,
Saw your website. Rather interesting. What do you do at the Naval Academy (teach or student)? You mentioned LINE on your website. I am a Marine and was trained in LINE. I must agree, that we do not practice it regularly as we should and many Marines are probably not very proficient at it since they have forgotten the techniques but I truly believe that it IS EFFECTIVE if done correctly and practiced to proficiency. I practice it quite often and have used it on occasion, of course leaving out the last moves that are intended to kill the victim. What is your take on LINE? Have you even been trained with it?

Sorry guys, I know this isn't about worms and snails.
