does anyone have some closer side by side comparison shots of these handles? i dont know if it's just my bad eyes, but i am having a hard time distinguishing between the two on the company store sight. thanks

Here's one I saved from a past post on the Fusion line and one from an old Company Store offering ....

"Wait a minute ... strike that ... reverse it ... thank you."

You beat me to it Mike. :D

Here's the info from the Busse Combat site:

"The Elusive Snakeskin

The Snakeskin micarta handles were discovered accidentally and cannot be duplicated. Not only have we tried to duplicate this unusual layered look with several different manufacturers who claimed that duplication would not be a problem, but several other knife manufacturers have tried quite unsuccessfully to duplicate it as well. Once our supply is used up, the Busse Combat original Snake Skin micarta will not be an available again.

The Stripe of the Tiger

Our Tiger Stripe canvas micarta is now only available on Limited Edition models and features an unusual combination of Black and Tan coloring. At first this handle color was offered on a few, non-limited edition standard models but our supply was quickly depleted and this forced us to limit its availability as well due to extensive waiting periods between re-supply."

yeah, stupid me, i didnt even realize that the finishes were different on the two. thanks

It's easier to tell depending on the particular handle texturing. The snakeskin handles have distinct red and blue layers, while the tiger stripe is two colors, a tan/orange and black.

on some of the patterns i too have a difficult time when they are freshly machined. after a little palm oil or wd-40 gets on them then they are a lot easier to see the diff in.

Also, I think the patterns can look very different, depending on how the handle is shaped. The snakeskin AD's, with somewhat rounded handles, look awesome, but the flat Special Forces handle style on the NO (pictured above) doesn't look nearly so nice, IMHO. Sort of taktical candy-cane.
