Hi everybody today while I was out cutting trees in a farmers pasture and fence line I met up with this bull snake that was a little over 4 feet in lenght and thought you all might like to see it. I did release it back to where we met at.

Get him on the Grill.
Morning Tea or Smoko as we say here.

Nice one.

Have to say though, snakes (and spiders) are the things I like least about the outdoors. Even the non-venomous ones. To be honest they really scare the crap out of me.

jh205 I really do not care about having them around even though I know they do have there place in nature. I think spiders are worse for me anyway.
Take care,
Bryan

I guess the thing is that, having no expertise or even much experience of the matter, I dont reliably know if a snake or spider is harmless or not. Thus, from an evolutionary perspective, it pays to be wary of all things that could well be dangerous, and thats probably the origin of my fear.

The funny thing is that I don't have a phobia of snakes or spiders. For example, if I was assured by a vet or zookeeper etc. that the thing was harmless, I'd be fine handling it. But if I encounter a snake or spider in the wild, I feel a genuine fear of it and keep FAR away.

You're right, rational fear and phobias are two different things.

I know a guy that will leave the room if you even mention snakes!
