Hi all.
Just hoping to gain some insight by casting the net wider.
I preordered a snakewood viper. Many of these went wrong and sadly have not been distributed to dealers. My guy says they are still at GEC awaiting approval.I guess the question is 'are they worthy?'
Im wondering how long this process will take and if I will ever get one.
At this stage I have paid for a hemlock .He has that reserved for me as a second banana if the snakewoods dont come in. Which is very kind of him but also frustrating.
Does anyone know if the snakewoods will happen?
Im hoping so but its been around 2 months .
Hope.....fading.....:(

The snakewood viper has come and gone. Did you mean to say the brown snake skin acrylic?

I think he must mean the Brown Snakeskin Acrylic. Good news, the slabs are being sawn now-according to GEC's What's Happening page. They look frightening:D:eek:

The brown snake acrylic has finally made it to the shop. I am expecting mine in a couple of weeks. Hopefully.

I remember Meako fretting about the snakewoods in the 47 Viper thread. I wonder if GEC is still making repairs on some of the snakewoods Vipers. Perhaps he got a heads up from a dealer? I have an EDC snakewood and have been using it. It's working great so far. I bought a Green glass thinking I would swap the blades to make it easier to pinch. Not needed though. Northfield blade is tough to pinch open until you have a little patina. One pint of strawberries an an apple worth of patina was all it took. I'll try to put a pic up later. I like this knife.

Meako, if it were me, I'd try to snag a snakewood on the exchange; there have been a few. I'd say that's a more sure bet than waiting for some supposed release of more EDC knives from GEC/your dealer. It sounds like those have already been distributed. Maybe there are more we don't know about, or maybe there was some miscommunication somewhere along the line, but worst case, if you buy one privately and then your dealer comes up with one magically in a week or a month, you have two, and can keep or sell whichever one you wish.

That snake skin acrylic looks -wow- I want one!!! :D

That there is what is typically sold as a material called Juma and they call it Golden Dragon. I actually posted a picture of a knife with this handle material in Lets Talk GEC a few months back with hopes that someone from GEC would see it..... Coincidence or not, I pray that I am fortunate enough to obtain one!

Here's the picture I posted there (not my knife).

yeah when I first heard of the snake skin option I was thinking more along the line of Snake Skin Canvas Micarta (like from Busse or Barkriver). kinda kicking myself now for not going for that option...

Thanks for the replies Everyone.
might have to write it off and rethink over to snakeSKIN acrylic -cheers.

Did the folks that ordered the snakeskin acrylic vipers end up getting them yet... pictures.. updates?

No word yet on the snakeskin Vipers. I was gonna check if the GEC site has some pictures.

nope nothing new...just the box of acrylic's for cutting.

I got a refund from the dealer.
Still to know what happened tho.
I envisage the snakeskins doing a #98 act ie being out of stock before they hit the shelves and all off a sudden popping up on the trading forum at a higher price.

The unfinished snakeskin acrylic has a resemblance to the turn of the century European pressed stag as shown.

I am still holding out hope. I am guessing they are just trying to find a spot to work it back into a busy schedule. Seems these snakewood and snakeskin Vipers are the toughest ones to manufacture. Who woulda thunk it?

GEC site shows the handles being fitted with the new scales. Things are moving again.
