I accidentally bought a Snap On Speed Bump off ebay...Anyone own one of these ?

Hows that weird locking mechanism work? Is the Sandvik steel good stuff?

thanks !

Made by Kershaw right? Looks pretty decent. They make a great blade.

Sandvik steel is great, especially with proper heat treat.

Post pics when you get it.

Holy crap KRS1 is on BF! Are you just the guy to lead a crew?

They are great knives, downfall is the clip.

The lock is pretty cool once you get use to it, I like it a lot for one handed closing. Its fun watching people try to figure out how to close it. Even after I show them the dont get it. Had one get convinced you had to tap the side of the blade 3 times to get it to close.

The blade shape is very useful.

whewww, Im glad theyre ok, yep made by Kershaw. Found a black one for less after I got the orange one Dohhh!..But I guess the Snap On logo will be pretty different, and help to convince five-o its really a work tool if i get questioned for it.

My current favorite for one handed opening/closing are the SOG Elites, I open and close them all day, helps me stop smoking. Whenever I want a smoke I start flipping, good thing i work from home...lol

I cant really tell, but is that a bead blasted blade?

Sandvik steel is good stuff...My BUMP quartered up this Samba stag i shot (506 pound gutted)...was blunt when id finished but any knife would have been......Samba live in swamps and their hair is very coarse....FES

The horns on that Stag are huge, imagine theyd make nice knife handles. Hows it taste?

Glad to hear you and Bobsig say the blade is functional. The blade reminds me of a Kukri.

Is this a strong lock design? Comparable in strength to a spine lock, or a bit tougher like an Arc/Axis/Triad lock kind of tough?

Thanks

KRSI.....Them horns are called antlers, and no good for handles cos just coming out of velvet....The meat is coarse so we turn into salami or mince,,,,blade is GREAT for hocking and draw cutting..........never owned arc./triad/axis locks before??? so cant comment on strength.......Bumps are good knives if you can sharpen a recurve.........FES

Horns...lol, i dont know what in was thinking calling them horns...haha

thanks for the info.

I have the Spec Bump and really like that locking mechanism. It's as easy to close one-handed as an assisted opener can be, and is very strong. You might have some problems with it being extremely stiff at first, but it gets smoother with use and doesn't stick as often.

Got my Snap On Speed Bump yesterday and the first impression I got was WOW, this is a really beautiful knife, smooth slightly textured orange anodized handles and a matte blade. The sharpness was ok but not anywhere as sharp as my SOG Elites, i cant shave hair with the Speed Bump. The SOG ARC and BM AXIS locks are much easier to operate though and have more locking surface area.
