Snapless sheath options...

for a large bowie with a wide guard? I found an excellent tutorial from BF member Mr. Koster:thumbup: but his example didnt have a conventional guard and mine does, i'm in the planning stages for taking a stab at making a sheath, ive made a few Rustic sheaths that were the pouch style they arent pretty but they are sturdy and functional...
Anybody have examples or ideas of snapless sheaths with a guard, is it even doable?

How about a cord around the handle that you can draw taught from the rear and maybe cinch up with a bead?

that sounds like a winner!, got any reference, i'm just trying to get my bearings on this.. i was also thinking of a toggle type closure, dunno.
If ya got any picts it be much appreciated
