I`ve had this design for a chopper in my head for a while, so finally decided to do something about it. I went out to the shop at 1:00 this morning and profiled it out before I started on scheduled orders. It`s going to take some time to get it done, I`m only working on it in my spare time.

Here are the specs:
14" overall
9" blade
3/16" thick
3" tall at it`s tallest point of the blade
These will only be available in a forged finish
The only handle choices are black canvas micarta, tan canvas micarta, oak, torched oak, and orange G10 (add $10.00)

Cost for knife and sheath will be $260.00
Cost for knife with piggyback sheath and skeleton handle utility knife will be $335.00

Your thoughts?

Hi Stomper -

That looks like it would be very nose-heavy - probably a good thing for a chopper.

Is that why it has the "bulb" on the end of the blade?

One thing that I think you should start doing is beveling off the spine - I really like the way you put a nice, rounded spine on my Knatchet.

I am interested in seeing this big chopper made. I wonder how it will stack up to my Bowie and the Knatchet.

'Me thinks "Mick Dundee" would be impressed . . :) Nice looking design, match it with a 3" or 4" & you should be set to go.
Be safe.

I think on one this size the spine should be rounded. Every time I round one on a small knife, the customer complains that he can`t use it with a firesteel! The "bulb" is for weight forward balance.

I like the looks on it. Then again, I like most blades over 8" long. Can't wait to see it in finished.

Looks like it might be ready to heat treat this weekend, along with 8 other knives. 6 for customer orders, and 2 to post for sale.

Hi Stomper -

I like the idea of a piggyback utility knife too.

I was thinking of something along the lines of an Izula - I really like the way the knife handle "arches" to the blade, and the blade is canted slightly downward from the handle - the RWC also has this subtle ergonomic design. This makes a knife seems much bigger by giving more leverage (in my opinion).

So - I was thinking something like the Keychain Companion, with a subtle curvature, and skeletonized (just big holes would be fine I think). I would want the blade to be 3.5" with a handle that would keep the overall dimensional characteristic of the Keychain Companion.

Essentially it would be like a JK Izula like but a bit bigger so you could get a better grip on the blade.

All that make sense?

These will only be available in a forged finish! I added prices to first post, not cheap, but it`s costly to make.

The knife will come with a sheath, it`s the piggyback style with the utility knife that costs more.

NICE concept!
I think I'd be willing to get in on a preorder. What kind of time frame are you looking at, After the "holidaze?" PiggyBack and Utility.

Probably around February. After I get it all done I will post pics and have a sign up for orders.
