I know, it's not quite finished. But this little knife and especially the steel it's made from was so much fun to make so far, I couldn't resist but to give you guys a little glimpse.

Yesterday I dabbled around with my powerhammer for the first time in about 12 months. Just for kicks and giggles I welded up a little billet from some V2A and 1.2842 (read Stainless and O-2). I was fairly certain this would fail, but I was pleasantly surprised after another busy day in the shop

I modified my Little Onion Chopper EDC model some more (shorter blade and handle), so now it's the perfect three finger knife. Here it is roughed out at 60 grit:

And here with a 120 grit and after a 1 second (well, maybe 2 ;)) soak in ferric acid:

The contrast is amazing, I'm looking forward to seeig it when the blade is heat treated and satin finished. I'm thinking about sceletonizing the handle, what do you think?

I'll definitely put a phase on the handle, to make the whole thing a little easier on the fingers.

Fit a little Kydex suit for it and I think we got a ourselves a decent neck knife. And you got all that carbon power, with almost none of the rust ;).

Hopefully it'll be finished by Saturday for a little knifemaker gathering here in the south of Germany. I always hate to show up empty handed.

Looking forward to your comments.

Best regards

Marcus

Wow. That little bugger looks somewhat like a mini, really weird acid-etched katana! Just....a little wide on the blade for that. Anyway, it is really nice. Kitchen works!
