Wanted to give my fellow makers a sneak preview of what I hope is the final version of a design I have been working on for several months.

I will be doing a give-away Maybe "Name that Knife" contest on the Custom forums as soon as I get the sheath finalized. Probably Kydex with a thumb release or maybe leather. I posted the prototypes earlier in the "I've been busy" post a few weeks back. Yes I did away with the Tanto'ish point.

Anyway this one is Handrubbed Satin finish 1/4" O1
Handle is Linen Micarta, Blade is 6.75 tip to front of handle, 11 3/4" OAL.

Let me know what you think!!!
Offered version will be made from .207 S30V, Bos HT, Micarta or Wood Scales with Finish yet to be determined. Either Kydex or Leather sheath.

Enjoy:D

Sorry for the cruddy pic. The line above the grind is a reflection as well as a reflection on the pins.

I was thinking "American BadAss" or maybe "American Hardwear"...

Ideas:D

Robert -

That knife looks like a torpedo with a 'fin' to slice the water! Very impressive hunk of steel! Hefty looking!
If you can't tell - I like it!!

You will be doing a give-away?

Your not going to give this knife away are you?

Thats one fine looking knife.

Just remember you can't be using any of these names ;)

I would love to name that knife!

Please let me know when you do the give-away.

Thanks
pahl

Very nice job Robert!!! I say Leather sheath.
To save you time just go a head an send it to me:rolleyes:
As the the name AST Americans Stands Tall

Hey Robert, How about callin' it "American Divorcee" because it's got beautiful flowing lines, a fine point that'll dig really deep, and an edge that'll bleed you dry all day long. ;) :D :D

Can't think of a good name, I'd probably go with the black bear or something but, it is one damn fine looking knife. Is it very blade heavy? It looks as though you may have tapered it enough up front to balance it out? Regardless, it's a really nice job. I wouldn't even ask for this knife for free.

J,
Not Blade heavy at all. It took me quite a while to get all of the proportions worked out so this blade would balance right. Exact balance point is just a little forward of the exact center of the index finger groove. Actually all you feel is the overall weight. Suprising since this one is in 1/4" thick steel and really doesn't feel heavy at all.

The rest will be made in .207, S30V should be a good compromise between weight to strength ratio.

What do you think of a Randall or maybe a Strider Style sheath?

Anybody have a sheath picture they care to reccomend...

I was thinking something like "Black Canyon Companion" or "Apache Tears" since you are from that area but maybe "American Vengence" would be more to your liking.

Robert -

That knife of yours can sure cause "MAXIMUM GRIEF" in the right hands! Good luck with that blade; she's a beaut!

"GOD BLESS AMERICA"

I think it's a good name, very patriotic, shows loves to our beloved country.

Starting to get some good suggestions guys, keep it up.

Both the kid and the wife hated "American BadAss" so I know it struck a nerve...hehe yea.

I would like the word "American" in there somewhere just seems to fit my mood over the last year or so!
