Simple few questions.

Are they handmade or machined out like Spyderco/benchmade/ alot of other folks?

Are the blades laser/water cut or is it true stock removal?

What tools are needed to field strip a BG42 flatground GB? Mines on the way( I seem to mention this in all my posts...Ya think I'm excited?)

You guys make some damn addicting blades!

Great question,
Quick run down….
We use sheet stock, doesn’t matter what type of steel we are using. They all come in a sheet.
Next we Wire EDM cut the profile of the knife. This is currently the most accurate method of cutting.
Next the blank goes to the Blanchard grinder. Here we surface grind the blank to +/- .002”.
Next we drill all the holes. We do this on a CNC mill.
Then the part usually goes to the vibratory de-burring machine. This machine removes all the burs caused by the drilling. It also rounds out all of the sharp non cutting edges.
We then grind the actual cutting profile. This is done in a number of ways. Most knives we now make have a combination of hand and machine grinding. It all really depends on what we feel is the BEST way to produce the part. We are not interested in not making the best. If hand work is best for the part, it is done by hand, and vice versa.
Note that almost always, any proto typing is done completely by hand. This is how we develop the methods that will work best on each part. It also reminds us how lucky we are to not have to use that damn chop-saw every fckn day!
When the profiling and beveling are complete, the blade goes to Heat Treat. This is a five day process.
Blade comes back…
Blast it.
Handle it.
Sheath it.
Sharpen it.
Send it.

Sorry I left out all the blood, oil and burns.

Talk to you soon

That was very interesting info, Mick. However, RECESS IS OVER! Now get back to work so the two Striders I have on order are delivered as soon as possible. ;)

Edit: No. Disregard the above and take your time and make it the proper Strider way. :D

Damn Mick never expected that much detailed information, THANK YOU. My GB arrived this morning and I'm amazed. A review is forthcomming.

Mick, thats awsome info.

Dennis, My GB just left for heat treating. I can't wait to get it. You are a lucky man.

MO, You the MAN. The local Strosniders hardware store had spanner wrenches for like 8 bucks.
